Show message discipline, but be yourself
(NB: I mistakenly use the term "muezza" instead of "muezzin" in this video. My apologies. #Learning)
We were fortunate to be invited to a wedding in Tunis, Tunisia...and the geek #communications dude in me snuck out.
WHO you are as a communicator is clinically as important for connection as WHAT you are communicating. The muezzins (the chanter of calls to prayer in the Muslim world) in Tunis are a great demonstration that organizations need to have a clear set of #messaging, but individuals need to be themselves when delivering that messaging.
The calls to prayer from the minarets all deliver the same message, but the muezzin -- the chanter for each mosque -- delivers it differently. Each muezzin has a distinct, natural voice. The recitation of the calls follow pronunciation rules, but pace, breath control, musical scales and vocal range can vary by the individual. All of these gives each mosque a unique, recognizable "mood" or tonal variation in its calls...and it seems to be traditions each holds close.
So stay aligned, but keep being yourself.
